Maker in Residence Project – Fall 2016

The Fall 2016 Maker-in-Residence, MIR, Project brought Dr. Forrest Greenslade to campus to lead his project, BeeCause, in which participants created unique sculptures that function as native bee nesting units.

Along the way participants learned about the entomology of the native bees, as well as becoming familiar with many of the tools in our Makerspaces. Together they presented their individual pieces, as well as the things they’ve learned about native bees, conservation, and the process of sculpture, at an informational fair on November 18th in the Murray Hall Space. The finished sculptures will be placed in the Carolina Campus Community Garden and by Coker Hall.
